What I use today is vastly different from my daily productivity “suite” of years past. This mail server — which Namecheap uses for marketing purposes — was likely compromised first by attackers. How HEH Botnet Spreads The new IoT botnet was discovered by security researchers at Netlab, the network security division of Chinese tech giant Qihoo 360. The botnet is written in the Go programming language and uses a proprietary P2P communication protocol. Netlab researchers named the new bot HEH Botnet after the name of the project inside the sample files they discovered. HEH spreads by launching brute-force attacks against telnet services on ports 23 and 2323....

Oracle’s Q2 non-GAAP operating income was up 6% to $4.9 billion, and earnings per share was up 14% to $1.21. Total quarterly revenues were up 6% year-over-year to $10.4 billion. Analysts were expecting earnings of $1.11 per share on revenue of $10.21 billion. “These strong results are being driven by the 22% growth of our infrastructure and applications cloud businesses which are approaching $11 billion in annualized revenue,” CEO Safra Catz said in a statement....

The enterprise and government analytics company said it expects fourth quarter revenue of $418 million with 2021 revenue growth of 40% to $1.53 billion. Analysts were expecting fourth quarter sales of $401.9 million and $1.51 billion for 2021. Palantir reported a third quarter net loss of $102.1 million, or 5 cents a share, on revenue of $392 million, up 36% a share. Non-GAAP earnings were 4 cents a share in the third quarter....

Who is Palmerworm? The Palmerworm APT group, also known as BlackTech, is believed to have started its cybercriminal activities back in 2013. Although it is not certain where the group originates, Taiwanese officials have previously claimed that Palmerworm is backed by China. If this is true, it means that a government backed Chinese hacking group has targeted Chinese companies. Palmerworm is considered an espionage group with their motivation likely to be stealing information from targeted organizations....

The report sent Palo Alto Networks shares up over 5% in late trading. CEO Nikesh Arora remarked that Palo Alto “continued to benefit from strength across our three security platforms, driven by strong cybersecurity demand, organizations architecting for hybrid work and growing their hyperscale cloud footprints.” Added Arora, “On the back of this strength, notably in our next-generation security offerings, we are raising our guidance for the year across revenue, billings, and earnings per share....

Workouts by the company’s subscribers dropped by roughly 20%, year over year, during the quarter. The report sent Peloton shares down by 5% in late trading. Peloton said in its shareholder letter that it was able to improve its logistics operations to return its time to ship devices to customers to “pre-pandemic levels” after substantial delays in the past year. Rust, initially developed within Mozilla, is joining Meta as an officially endorsed server-side language. The Ukrainian cyber police department worked alongside the National Police of Ukraine, Interpol, South Korean, and American law enforcement to take the gang members into custody. Six members of Cl0p (or Clop) are now behind bars, accused of cyberattacks against four Korean companies and three U.S. universities. Damages in the attacks reached $500 million, the statement said. The victimized universities named were Stanford University Medical School, the University of Maryland, and the University of California....
