In Australia, banks must pay fees to Apple to use Apple Pay. Other competitors in the mobile payment and digital wallets space, such as Google, do not charge a fee for the use of its Google Pay payments platform. “The committee notes the imbalance in bargaining power between payment platform providers and other participants in the payments ecosystem. Nevertheless, the observation that the market power of digital wallet platforms, such as Apple Pay and Google Pay, is causing banks to be price-takers may not automatically trigger the need for regulation,” the committee said....

In a new tiered structure, Coursera will offer universities a service fee that will be lowered progressively from 40% to 25% of total tuition as long as universities “grow their programs on Coursera.” In a statement, Coursera said the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and the University of Colorado Boulder will be among the first schools to take on the new fee structure. Coursera CEO Jeff Maggioncalda said the pandemic has fundamentally changed how universities are thinking about online degrees....

The database, the Australian Immunisation Register (AIR), is maintained by Services Australia on behalf of the Department of Health. Providers can upload the vaccination information via an online portal, either directly or through software they use at their practice that is integrated into the AIR. It uses an individual’s Medicare number for identification and linking. There are no penalties for failure to upload the information. The FCC is doing this by forbidding legitimate telecom companies from taking calls originating from voice service providers whose certification doesn’t appear in the FCC’s Robocall Mitigation Database. This means “voice service providers will be prohibited from directly accepting that provider’s traffic.” Technically that works because telecoms must now block traffic from “voice service providers that have neither certified to implementation of STIR/SHAKEN caller ID authentication standards nor filed a detailed robocall mitigation plan with the FCC....
