A couple of years ago I tried out the Galaxy Tab S7 Plus and it was great for getting work done on the go, syncing to other Samsung gear, and serving as an extremely capable Android tablet. Garmin Services Offline Since late last Wednesday, Garmin has been suffering from a lack of connectivity. Millions of users are affected. The outage does not only concern fitness products, but also the InReach satellite communications service and the flyGarmin pilot service. Pilots use flyGarmin Pilot apps to plan and manage their flights. Garmin self-reported the fault on Twitter last Thursday. Initially, Garmin tried to brush off the incident as a maintenance issue, stating that they were “working to restore systems as quickly as possible and apologize for the inconvenience”....

That’s the verdict of researchers at Google Project Zero (GPZ), which has so far counted 18 zero-day bugs in 2022 affecting Microsoft Windows, Apple iOS and WebKit, Google’s Chromium and Pixel, and Atlassian’s Confluence server. GPZ only collects data about zero-day (0-day) flaws – or bugs exploited by attackers before a patch is available – in major software products, so the figure doesn’t encompass all software 0-days. After over 15 years with Ubuntu as the base for Google’s internal devices, the company switched to Debian to avoid major OS upgrades every two years and spread the upgrade workload out over time. Google announced it had completed the move in 2018 as ZDNet reported at the time. Margarita Manterola, a Google engineer, explained it was moving from Goobuntu, the Google build of Ubuntu, to gLinux, a rolling release based on Debian Testing, which is the beta for the next stable version of Debian....
