Microsoft’s newly-announced Power Apps Express Design capability uses AI models from Azure Cognitive Services to turn drawings, images, PDFs and Figma design files into applications. Microsoft also announced this week that the Azure OpenAI Service is now available in preview. Those in the preview will be able to access different models from OpenAI, including the GPT-3 base series (Ada, Babbage, Curie and DaVinci), Codex series and embedding models, and combine them with the enterprise capabilities of Azure....

Azure Orbital Cloud Access is meant to intelligently prioritize traffic across fiber, cellular, and satellite networks. The prioritized network traffic happens via SpaceX’s Starlink coupled with Azure edge devices, giving customers access to Microsoft cloud services anywhere Starlink operates. SpaceX has been one of Microsoft’s lead partners for Azure Space since the initiative began. Last year, Microsoft announced Azure Orbital had reached preview, allowing customers to communicate with and control satellites from Microsoft- and partner-owned ground stations around the world with no backhaul costs into Azure....

Microsoft also announced today that Microsoft and Nuance are combining Nuance’s contact center solutions Microsoft’s Dynamics 365 Customer Service product to build a secure, AI-infused contact center offering.

Microsoft this week confirmed a serious elevation of privilege flaw, tagged as CVE-2021-36934, that could allow a local attacker to run their own code with system privileges. The new features were uncovered by avid Windows watcher Albacore, who shared his findings on Twitter. The new features in the test versions may or may not make it to any Windows 11 release. In the Redmond giant’s latest round of patches, usually released on the second Tuesday of each month on what is known as Patch Tuesday, Microsoft fixed the aforementioned active exploit, as well as seven other “critical” issues: five remote code execution (RCE) bugs and two elevation of privilege (EoP) flaws. The remaining list of 67 exploits are dominated by additional RCE and EoP bugs.
