Hölzle had overseen parts of the day-to-day product engineering efforts for Google Cloud. The reorg, outlined internally by Google Cloud, comes as the company has scaled its revenue, focused on industry sales and landed large enterprise accounts under CEO Thomas Kurian. The VPN service had previously only been available to Android users who were on the Google One Premium subscription plan. With the latest update, iOS users on that plan will similarly get access to that service. Access to the service is still different between iOS and Android users, however, as Google also announced new VPN features that are only available on Android. In a blog post explaining these updates, Google One VP Larissa Fontaine said the new Android-only features include “safe disconnect” – which will allow users to shut off internet access when they are not connected to the VPN – the option to make certain apps bypass the VPN, and the ability to temporarily turn off VPN....

Military-Grade Pegasus Spyware NSO Group has repeatedly explained that governments, the military, intelligence agencies, and law enforcement use their spyware tool, Pegasus, to track down suspected terrorists and criminals. Moreover, they claim that they don’t have any knowledge of how their clients use its software or who they’re targeting. As a result, they can’t be blamed for it. However, security researchers and journalists worldwide have exposed major issues with Pegasus. Unknown perpetrators used the military-grade spyware tool to break into the phones of business people, heads of state, journalists, and activists, for example....

The Singapore government reported 108 data security incidents in its fiscal 2020, ended March 31 this year, compared to 75 in the previous year.
