The bureau warns that scammers are using “vulnerabilities in the global supply chain” and constant consumer demand for new batteries to sell a variety of counterfeits and unauthorized replicas online. The FBI warns that counterfeit batteries are dangerous to consumers and their devices as they don’t undergo the same testing as original equipment manufacturer (OEM) batteries. The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA), and Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) has issued a joint warning about Daixin Team activity against the healthcare and public health sector since June 2022. The group has used ransomware to encrypt servers providing services for electronic health records, diagnostics, imaging, and intranet. They have also exfiltrated personal identifiable information and patient health information. The agencies are warning health providers to secure VPN servers as this was how the group gained access to previous targets, including exploiting an unpatched flaw in the victim’s VPN server....

Under the program, carriers that have under 10 million customers as well as some schools, libraries, and healthcare providers are able to access funds to rip out and replace network equipment and services from Huawei and ZTE, if they provide broadband services. The Surface Water and Ocean Topography (SWOT) satellite is slated to launch aboard a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket in the next day or two, from Space Launch Complex 4-East at Vandenberg Space Force Base in California. Once in orbit, SWOT will measure the height of water in the ocean, as well as freshwater bodies, on more than 90% of Earth’s surface. Its innovative technology will deliver a 10x improvement in the spacial resolution of scientists’ measurements of water height....

Rapid7 said one of its researchers, William Vu, discovered an OS command injection vulnerability in version 6.3.11 and prior to FortiWeb’s management interface. The vulnerability allows remote, authenticated attackers to execute arbitrary commands on the system through the SAML server configuration page. Rapid7 said the vulnerability was related to CVE-2021-22123, which was addressed in FG-IR-20-120. The company added that in the absence of a patch, users should “disable the FortiWeb device’s management interface from untrusted networks, which would include the internet....

For what Marszalek said was a period of 13 to 14 hours, Crypto.com paused its users’ ability to withdraw funds and subsequently asked its users to reset two-factor authentication. The company informed its users they would need to sign back into their accounts and reset their two-factor authentication. Marszalek said Crypto.com’s 200 security professionals had created a “very robust” infrastructure and stated it had defence-in-depth. “There are multiple layers, and in this particular incident, some of these layers were breached,” he said....
